The Hindu festival of Pongal, which was planned to be held in the Maldives, has been cancelled.
Police said the festival organizers were told not to hold the event. They said any such event would not be allowed in the country.
The festival, titled "Tamil Pongal 2025", was scheduled to be held on Friday at Hulhumale' Synthetic Track.
The festival has been stopped after social media users complained about its advertisements.
Pongal festival was held in Maldives previously, but many religious scholars were unhappy and sent a letter to the government calling for an investigation.
