Police have launched an investigation into an Indian priest advertising astrology, horoscope and black magic removal services in the Maldives.
In a message to the media, police said the Facebook page promoted under the name Master Durga Rao Guruji had come to their attention.
"Police are working with the relevant authorities to take legal action," the message stated.
The Facebook page has a contact number and promotes services such as palm reading, marriage solutions and black magic removal.
Police urged the public to report such pages that promote services which contravene Maldivian culture and religion.
They also called to stop sharing such pages and report as soon as possible to ensure swift legal action.
Earlier in 2023, a Hindu priest visiting the Maldives advertised spiritual healing classes. But police arrested and deported him before the classes were held.
