Male' Maldives: Luisma Hernández, the new head coach of Maziya Sports and Recreation, is prepared to take on the chances and challenges that come with his position, says in an introductory interview with Adhadhu Sports.
"I like to dream. When you see some opportunity, you can try to change something in other places. If you can help this change, it’s welcome for me," Hernández said, expressing his motivation for joining Maziya.
The coach has extensive of knowledge from his time in leagues of Europe, South Korea, Uzbekistan, and Kuwait, having worked with elite academies like Barcelona and Real Madrid.
He underlined how crucial it is to incorporate local Maldivian style with Spanish football philosophy.
"When you travel to a different place, country, or continent, you need to adapt your idea with the local idea. Of course, I will propose Spanish football, but we are in the Maldives, and we are trying to make a mix."
Acknowledging the club’s history and recent challenges, Hernández sees this as an opportunity to build a stronger future. "This is football, and we are here to change history and the situation. That’s why I’m here," he affirmed.
Hernández also emphasised the necessity of long-term planning and funding to enhance Maldivian football, from stronger academies to better infrastructure.
Hernández is still hopeful despite the nine months of training that lie ahead and his hopes of making strides in the AFC competition.
In order to coordinate tactics and create a unified vision for the growth of football in the Maldives, the coach is willing to meet with the coach of the Maldives national team.
