Malé, Maldives: The Table Tennis Association of Maldives (TTAM) is set to introduce the Maldives Open in 2025, marking the association’s first-ever international tournament to be featured in its annual calendar.
According to the schedule, the Maldives Open will take place from July 5th to 12th. Prior to this, another international event will be held in the Maldives in late June. The South Asian qualification phase for the 2026 Table Tennis World Championship in London is scheduled to be hosted in the Maldives from June 25th to 30th.
In addition to the local events, the Maldives will participate in several international competitions this year.
These include the South Asian Regional Championship in May, along with key tournaments such as the Asian Youth Championship, Asian Championship, Islamic Solidarity Games, and South Asian Games, where Maldivian players will look to make their mark.
Domestically, major competitions include the National Table Tennis Tournament in August, followed by the Association Championship in October.
National Ranking events will also take place in four quarters throughout the year.
TTAM has also planned a range of programs across various islands. Addu City will host a Basic Umpire Course, while Fuvahmulah City, Kulhudhufushi City, K. Thulusdhoo, Lh. Naifaru, AA. Ukulhas, R. Ungoofaaru, and Th. Thimarafushi will offer Umpire/Coaching courses and Youth Development Programs (YDP).
