Muizzu's son named third best young male athlete

President Mohamed Muizzu's son, Umeir Mohamed Muizzu, has been named the third best young male athlete of the year at the government's Sports Awards.

This is the first such award to a President's child in the Maldives.

Umeir was named the third best young male athlete of 2024 at the Sports Awards held tonight (February 15). He was nominated by the Table Tennis (TT) Association.

Umeir won two gold, four silver and one bronze medals in the 2024 National Table Tennis Championships.

Mohamed Rihan Shiham, a swimmer, was named the best young male athlete of 2024. Zeek Hassan Latheef was named the second best. He is also a TT player.

MDP activist Shamin released from police detention
