Hussain Sageef Ihsaan has been elected as the new President of the Media Council, with Ibrahim Mohamed elected as Vice-President.

Sageef was chosen as president through a vote among Media Council members today. He was contested by Fathimath Shana of Mihaaru News, defeating her by a margin of one vote. Shana received seven votes, while Sageef secured eight.

The newly elected Media Council voted yesterday to select its president and vice-president. A second vote was held after the initial vote ended in a tie, with each candidate receiving seven votes.

Ibrahim Mohamed was elected as Vice-President, securing five votes against his opponent, Ibrahim Fauzee.

The term of office for a Media Council member is two years.
