MMA inaugurates its first Research Conference

The Monetary Authority of Maldives (MMA) launched its first research conference today.

The two-day event includes keynote speeches, panel discussions, research paper presentations, and workshops.

This year’s conference theme is “Advancing Economic Research: Policy and Innovation for a Sustainable Future.”

The opening ceremony was officiated by MNU Chancellor Dr. Mahamood Shougee. The conference was attended by researchers, financial institutions, and experts in economics and financial technology from the Maldives and abroad, reports MMA.

Governor Ahmed Munawar, MNU Chancellor Shougee, and the Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India addressed the first session.

During the event, MMA launched its Research Fund, inaugurated by Dr. Shougee.

According to MMA, the fund aims to encourage research and create an accessible environment for researchers. It was established with an initial allocation of MVR 1 million and is open to contributions from institutions in the Maldives and abroad.

MMA also signed MoUs with Universiti Islam Selangor Malaysia to promote economic research, educational collaboration, and innovation, and with Dhiraagu to expand research efforts and develop innovative products for a sustainable future.
