The Housing Ministry has assured that the flat list compiled under the Gedhoruveriya scheme and related information will not be affected by the fire currently destroying the Housing Ministry and Infrastructure Ministry buildings.
In a statement issued regarding the fire, the Housing Ministry confirmed that efforts to extinguish the fire are ongoing, led by the MNDF Fire Department. The statement also noted that no employees were injured in the incident.
The Ministry emphasised that all information related to the flat list is digitally maintained in the Ministry's cloud hosting system and will remain unaffected by today's incident.
The Housing Ministry added that security services are responding to the fire, and more details will be provided in due course.
Employees in the affected building, as well as those in adjacent buildings, were evacuated after the fire broke out. Government officials are also present and working in the area.
An Adhadhu journalist at the scene reported that the fire began in the tin building in the Housing and Infrastructure Ministry .
