The government has not made payments to any contractors for three weeks, Adhadhu has learnt.

Adhadhu understands that the government has not released any money to any project in Maldives over the past three weeks.

When questioned during a press conference at the President's Office today, Finance Minister Moosa Zameer did not deny the reports and said the state's cash flow declines in October and November every year.

"Money is being released. The thing is, after I assumed the position, that cash flow is a bit tight this month and the next month, operational cash flow is a bit low. But we are releasing the money when we get the space within the cash flow," he said.

At today's press conference, the government mainly noted two matters. That is the "errors" committed by the former government in managing the state accounts and issues in disbursing funds because a smaller amount was budgeted for this year.

Adhadhu has learned that some contractors are expressing their dissatisfaction due to the non-payment of money.

Some contractors said when they complained to the Finance Ministry, the ministry claimed that the relevant ministries had not sent requests to disburse their money.

Zameer told reporters that the economy is very good despite the cash flow difficulties. He assured that the difficulties would be overcome.

Earlier, the fishermen protested due to non-payment of about MVR 18 million. The money was released after they protested on two occasions.
