A police investigation team is currently in Noonu Holhudhoo island following the suspicious death of a woman this morning.
Adhadhu learned that the deceased was identified as Zakiyyaa Moosa, 50. She is a native of the Holhudhoo island.
Residents from the island said her body was discovered with injuries when people entered her house to collect garbage.
Police said she was pronounced dead when taken to the island's health centre.
A special investigation team left for the island at 1:45 pm. A forensic team is still working on the island.
A source from the island who wished to remain anonymous said injuries were found on Zakiyya's neck and a knife was near the body.
However, police have not given any further details about the case.
