President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has dismissed four members of the Tax Appeal Tribunal today.
They are the tribunal's President Mohamed Munawar, Vice President Hussain Zaidhan Jaleel and members Ahmed Ashraf and Khadeeja Naeem.
The Parliament on August 19 voted to dismiss the four members as decided by the Judiciary Committee. Sixty-three MPs voted in favour while 10 MPs voted against their dismissal.
The Judiciary Committee meetings to allow the four members to present their defence were held behind closed doors.
Adhadhu has obtained a letter sent by employees of the tribunal to the Parliament. The biggest issue highlighted in the letter was the alleged corruption in the leasing of Galolhu Maagaha house for the use of the tribunal.
