A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Maldives government and the Water and Sewerage Administration of Istanbul.
The Environment Ministry said the MoU was signed between the Government of Maldives and the Government of Turkey.
The MoU was signed by Environment Minister Dr. Thoriq Ibrahim and the Deputy Director General of Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration. The signing ceremony was held online.
According to the Environment Ministry, the MoU is aimed at exchanging technical experience and conducting people-building training programs between the two countries to develop the water and sanitation sector.
The ministry stated that the MoU will also enable the two countries to participate in international conferences related to the sector and to promote the sector.
The ministry added that it believes the MoU will enable the two countries to develop the water and sewerage sectors.
The Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration was established in 1981 to manage water and sewerage in Turkey's most populous city. The agency's main responsibility is to provide clean drinking water and maintain sewerage in Istanbul.
