A motion has been submitted to the Parliament for the dismissal of Prosecutor General (PG) Hussain Shameem.
In a letter to Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla, Hulhudhoo MP Mohamed Shahid accused Shameem of failing to fulfil his responsibilities.
He highlighted eight points in the letter;
- Dropping the case against former Tourism Minister Ali Waheed who was accused of rape
- Dropping the case against former Youth Minister Ahmed Mahloof
- Decision not to appeal the lower court's ruling in the safari rape case
- Withdrawal of human trafficking charges against former Milandhoo MP Ali Riza
- Dropping several cases related to the consumption of alcohol
- Decision not press charges in ventilator corruption case
- Discrimination among PG office employees
- Refusal to investigate Prosecutor and PG office Spokesperson Ahmed Shafiu who was accused of homosexuality, drug use and insulting the Prophet Mohamed
