A window of the KFC outlet in Male' has been smashed for the second time in less than week.

The incident was reported at 4:32 am on Saturday morning, police said. No arrests have been made yet.

KFC's window was also smashed in the early hours of Monday, July 15.

A 48-year-old man has been arrested with a court order in connection with Monday's incident, police said on Saturday evening.

In November last year, the KFC outlet was vandalised with used diesel oil. Police did not reveal whether any arrests were made then.

In recent weeks, posters were put up outside the restaurant calling for a boycott of KFC over Israel's genocide against the Palestine people.

KFC is on the list of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement led by Palestine citizens because KFC's main company provides financial assistance to Israel.

KFC has been facing significant financial losses due to the campaign. The brand has been forced to close restaurants in some countries.

The franchise is operated in the Maldives by Gamma Island Food Pvt Ltd, whose shareholders are Maldivian company Island Food Pvt Ltd and Indian company Gamma Pizzacraft Overseas Ltd.
