The Japanese government has donated 30 more garbage disposal vehicles under the "My Clean Maldives" project.
Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim handed over the vehicles to island councils at a ceremony held at the Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) office on Wednesday.
Thoriq said the Japanese government will provide waste management equipment to 25 islands in the coming days.
Under the "My Clean Maldives" project, garbage disposal vehicles were handed over to 48 islands last February. A total of 78 vehicles have now been delivered to the islands.
The vehicles donated to Maldives are manufactured in Japan.
The Japanese government is providing a lot of assistance to solve the waste problem including the establishment of the Male' Waste Transfer Station.
