Eight people have been arrested over throwing rocks on to the roof of the Thoddoo island council office during a protest last week.
The eight people were arrested with court orders, police said today. The case is under investigation, police said. But police did not say for how long the suspects would be held in custody.
The protest took place in Thoddoo on June 5 over alleged plans to seize the island's agricultural plots from farmers.
A police officer was injured during the protest. The officer was injured when protesters started throwing rocks at the Thoddoo council office, police said at the time.
