President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has said a report accusing him of corruption in connection with money deposited to his bank account is a draft report prepared by the police.

Although the President raised questions about the validity of the report leaked on social media, he did not question the central bank's Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) report attached to the leaked documents.

"A draft report. They claim it is a police report. That is a draft. It has no stamp or date. They have made it however they want. If they searched they would have found out. Their government was in power during the last five years," Muizzu said at a campaign event on Tuesday.

Referring to the opposition, Muizzu claimed that they have been trying without success to accuse him of various crimes.

Muizzu further said the reports were leaked for political purposes after the opposition lost hope in winning Sunday's parliamentary elections. He denied having committed any illegal acts.

"While you attempt to pin something on me like this, you couldn't do it before and you can't do it now. There's nothing you can show against me no matter how far you take this," the President said loudly.

His remarks came after the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and People's National Front (PNF) called on the relevant authorities to investigate the serious allegations against the President. But no government investigative agency has yet to comment on the issue.
