The Criminal Court has decided to take action against Home Minister Ali Ihusan and senior police officers for contempt of court.

Ihusan along with Chief Superintendent Ahmed Shakir, Chief Inspector Ahmed Waheed and Sub-Inspector Mamdhooh Hassan were guilty of contempt of court, the Criminal Court said in a message sent to Adhadhu.

Ihusan and the senior officers exerted influence over judges and undermined the safety and security of judges, the court said. The case has been placed on the agenda for an emergency meeting of the judges' council, the court said.

Police officers had heavily criticized the Criminal Court at the press conference. Criminal Court judges were also named and criticized at the press conference.
