The United States Department of State Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) has donated drug testing kits to the Maldives Police Service.

The equipment was handed over during a special ceremony held yesterday at Iskandharu Koshi. Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed (Two Four) accepted the donation on behalf of the Maldives Police Service.

According to the police, the U.S. donated 150 drug kits. These kits are designed to provide reliable results rapidly and are capable of identifying a wide range of narcotics with ease.

Speaking at the ceremony, which was attended by senior police officers, Commissioner Two Four expressed his gratitude to the INL and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for the donation.

Bilateral relations between the Maldives and the United States have strengthened since the current administration took office, with the U.S. providing ongoing assistance to both the police and military.

Furthermore, on June 24, the Maldives Police Service signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with U.S. Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to combat major transnational organized crime.
