A video of First Lady Sajidha Mohamed singing karaoke emerged yesterday shortly after the President’s Office claimed that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s family has never done karaoke.
President’s Office Communications Minister Ibrahim Khaleel said the President’s family does not do karaoke after fake photos were circulated on social media with allegations of First Lady Sajidha purchasing an expensive karaoke system for Muleeage.
In a message sent to some media outlets denying the allegation, Khaleel said that doing karaoke was “not something that President Muizzu’s family has ever done at home.”
The video of First Lady Sajidha singing emerged about an hour after some media outlets reported Khaleel’s denial.
The video had been taken from the social media account of a person present at the gathering. It is expected to have been recorded inside the President’s residence M. Dhimyaath. The video showed the First Lady performing karaoke on several occasions.
The video also showed preparations for a circumcision party and the work done for the party. The account later posted more photos and videos of the party. President Muizzu could also be seen in one of the videos posted in August 2020. However, after the video of Sajidha doing karaoke was shared on social media, the account was made private and the videos were deleted.
Asked about the video that was made public, Khaleel told Adhadhu that he could not comment on any matter related to the President’s private life.
