Russian national injured in assault in Thoddoo

A Russian national has sustained injuries in an assault in Thoddoo island.

Police said the incident happened at the Thoddoo Dive Villa Center and the 42-year-old is an employee of the dive center. The incident was reported to police at around 6:30 pm Tuesday.

The Russian national who was injured was discharged after receiving treatment at Thoddoo Hospital. He is in good condition, police said.

No arrests have been made and police said investigations are ongoing.

Thoddoo is popular for local tourism. There are 58 guest houses operating on the island.
