Kaashidhoo MP Jabir expelled from MDP

The opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has expelled Kaashidhoo MP Abdulla Jabir.

Following this decision, Jabir will not be able to contest in the upcoming parliamentary election with the MDP ticket.

The party's disciplinary committee made the decision after looking into a complaint that Jabir had repeatedly used insulting language towards people and acted in violation of general social norms.

According to the decision, if Jabir seeks party membership again, the matter will be discussed at the party's national council before approval.

Additionally, even if the membership is approved, Jabir will not be allowed to stand for any posts or primaries for five years.

While Jabir had confirmed MDP ticket for Kaashidhoo seat in the 20th People's Majlis, his son Muaz Abdulla Jabir won the party ticket for Mahibadhoo seat.
