The Fiqh Academy has appealed to the public not to seek the help of those involved in sorcery.
In a statement, the Fiqh Academy noted that media platforms have recently been used to promote sorcery.
The Fiqh Academy advised people not to seek the help of those who do black magic in the name of Ruqya permitted in Islam.
"The Islamic Fiqh Academy urges the media not to promote such content as it may deviate people from the clear path of Islam," the statement read.
In the past, Maldivians used to seek help from sorcerers to cure diseases and to achieve things because it was believed to be permissible in Islam.
However, sorcery was banned during the rule of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.
