Shujau appointed Commissioner of Police

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Assistant Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau as the Commissioner of Police today.

The appointment ceremony was held at the President’s Office this morning.

Assistant Commissioners Ismail Naveen and Ali Shujau were the only contenders for Police Commissioner when the application deadline passed on December 19.

The Police Board advised the Homeland Security Minister to appoint Shujau as the new Police Commissioner.

Ali Shujau served the Maldives Police Service for an extended period and received his Master of Management from the International Islamic University, Malaysia.

He is also an FBI graduate at the FBI National Academy Session 277, affiliated with the University of Virginia, United States.

The Police Commissioner post became vacant after former Commissioner Mohamed Hameed retired on November 15.
