A foreigner has been arrested and remanded in custody for 15 days on charges of kidnapping and beating a man.
Mohammad Arif Hossain, 37, a Bangladeshi man was arrested in the case.
According to the court order, he has been living in Maldives without valid documents.
Police told the court that there is also a possibility that he might leave the Maldives illegally.
The evidence submitted against him includes video footage of him and others kidnapping a man and assaulting him.
