Male' Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has said that he will prioritize regions with larger populations if elected as the President.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Haa Dhaal Nolhivaram island, Muizzu guaranteed that his government would establish justice and equity.

"The Constitution guarantees that all citizens are equal. In addition, priority should be given to where there are many people. Giving priority to where there are the most people. This is necessary. Justice is relative," Muizzu said.

He highlighted Nolhivaram with a population of about 3,000 as an example and said that the island must be given priority by the government.

Apart from Kulhudhuffushi City, Nolhivaram has the biggest population in Haa Dhaal atoll in the north of the country.

Muizzu alleged that the current government had neglected the people of Nolhivaram over the past five years.

“I want to say that we will respond very sincerely to those, [the demands of the people of Nolhivaram for development projects],” he said.

He noted that important infrastructure such as roads has not been built in Nolhivaram while the government continues to carry out those projects in smaller islands with fewer people.
