Caution urged after swell surges on Hulhumale' bridge and highway

The police have urged drivers to exercise caution after swell surges at the intersection of the Hulhumale' bridge and highway near the airport traffic lights.

Tidal surges were sweeping up rock and sand at the area, the police said in a tweet.

The weather was generally fine but some islands could be affected by tidal swells during high tide, the Maldives Meteorological Services warned in a weather prediction for Sunday.

The Met office expected wave heights of two to four feet with wind speeds of three to 10 miles per hour west to northwesterly in the northern atolls.

Tidal surges amid bad weather during periods of high tide have caused extensive damages on some islands.
