Police are investigating a case connected to the Road Development Corporation. (RDC).

A journalist questioned police in a media group to clarify whether more than MVR 13 million was stolen from a bank account of RDC.

The police confirmed that they were investigating an "RDC-related matter" but did not provide further details.

Some media reports on Tuesday claimed that the Financial Intelligence Unit of the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) was investigating a theft case related to RDC.

RDC Managing Director Moosa Ali Manik 'Mookey' told Adhadhu that the police had not informed him that a case was being investigated against the company.

Police have not questioned any employee, he added. He denied reports that the alleged theft was carried out with his involvement.

"Those news reports claim that money was deposited from the company's account into my account. That is not true. If the police are investigating a case, I can only comment when we are informed about the investigation," he said.
