Maldives Meteorology Service forecasts good weather for the Eid holiday despite rain showers expected over the weekend.
Eid-al-Adha holidays coincide with the annual school leave this year. The government has declared a nine-days public holiday.
With many people planning to travel during the holidays, an official from the Met Office told Adhadhu that rains are expected in all parts of the country over the weekend. Seas will be moderately rough, the official said.
However, the rain will start to lighten from Tuesday and the weather is expected to improve for the Eid starting on Wednesday, the official added.
The public holidays started on Thursday and many people have already travelled out of the capital Male' with more expected to leave before Eid on Wednesday.
