Male' (June 19) - Maldives lost all four league round games in the ongoing Five Nations Championship. Even before the final league round fixture against Nepal, Maldives were knocked out of the competition from the results from elsewhere.
In Saturday night's late game, when Nepal defeated Bangladesh, Maldives' chances of progressing to the semi-final were out of reach. Maldives lost the final game of the league round against Nepal by 75-68.
Nepal dominated the whole game. Whereas Maldives had to chase in all four quarters of the game. For Maldives, the star performer was Abdulla Amzar. He took 31 points - where no other Maldivian player couldn't snatch 10 points.
For Nepal, Manish scored 21 points & Bijay got 31 points.
After the league round as it stands, Nepal tops the standing table, tied with Pakistan, the team in second place with seven points. Third place Bangladesh and fourth place Bhutan with six points under their belt & Maldives are at the bottom with no points.
Two semi-finals are set to go ahead tomorrow. In the first semi-final, Nepal will face Bhutan, followed by a clash between Bangladesh and Pakistan in the second semi-final.
The final match is scheduled for Thursday night.
