A third suspect has been arrested in connection to the murder of 62-year-old Naeema Moosa in Noonu Manadhoo island on April 7.
Police obtained a court warrant to detain Hassan Fawaaz in Male’ city at around 9pm Sunday.
The first two suspects were arrested in Manadhoo on Friday and key evidence was seized including the murder weapons and a car.
Adhadhu understands that Naeema was stabbed multiple times all over her body. The motive for the murder remains a mystery.
Following the arrests on Friday, police commissioner Mohamed Hameed tweeted that “two sharp weapons believed to have been used in the killing and the clothes worn by the two suspects at the time of the attack” were recovered.
The items were burnt and buried, he added.
Police forensic experts worked on the island for the investigation and a lot of people on the island cooperated by providing DNA samples.
