Two men injured in a dangerous accident in Fuvahmulah city were brought to Male' on Sunday for further treatment.
According to the Fuvahmulah hospital, they are undergoing treatment at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in Male'. They sustained head injuries, the hospital said.
Police said the accident occurred around 11:25 pm on Saturday night when two motorcycles collided. The victims were 18 and 19 years of age, they added.
A video of the scene of the accident, circulating on social media, shows the two motorcycles badly damaged.
Police said the accident was under investigation and that both young men had motorcycle driving licenses.
According to statistics, Fuvahmulah reports the second-highest number of road accidents in the country.
Nine road accidents that occurred on the island were reported to the police in the first four months of this year.
