Two suspects have been arrested and key evidence secured in the murder of 62-year-old Naeema Moosa in Noonu Manadhoo island on April 7.
Police commissioner Mohamed Hameed tweeted that “two sharp weapons believed to have been used in the killing and the clothes worn by the two suspects at the time of the attack” were recovered on Friday.
The items were burnt and buried, he added. A red car connected to the suspects was also seized from the island.
The suspects in their early 20s were detained and remanded on drug-related charges, but police later obtained warrants for their detention over the gruesome murder.
Adhadhu understands that Naeema was stabbed multiple times all over her body. The motive for the murder remains a mystery.
Police forensic experts worked on the island for the investigation and a lot of people on the island cooperated by providing DNA samples.
