The Maldives Foreign Ministry has finally issued an official statement condemning the US-Israel attacks on Iran, which began 10 days ago.

On March 2, reporters questioned President Mohamed Muizzu as to why his administration was not condemning the attacks.

In response, Muizzu said the US-Israel attacks were wrong and "all sides are wrong." Muizzu said he opposed Iran’s retaliatory attacks on Arab countries.

The Foreign Ministry's statement issued yesterday (March 10) condemned Iran's attacks before mentioning US-Israel attacks.

"The Maldives is particularly concerned by incidents impacting civilian locations, including airports and oil facilities in the Gulf region, which constitutes a clear violation of international law and the Geneva Conventions," it stated.

The statement said Iran was attacking these countries "even without any retaliation by these countries." However, there are US bases in these Gulf countries.

It acknowledged that the attacks were initiated by Israel and US and strongly condemned the strikes, "including those on a girls’ school that resulted in over a hundred civilian casualties."

"Maldives calls for an immediate ceasefire by all parties," the statement added.
