Ooredoo Maldives has been named the Maldives' Best Fixed Network by the world's most popular internet speedtest service, Ookla.

This marks the first time this title has ever been awarded in the Maldives.

"It reflects our continued commitment to delivering fast, reliable fibre broadband and keeping communities connected across the nation," Ooredoo Maldives said.

The award was given after assessing the strength, speed and quality of service of Ooredoo Maldives' fibre broadband network.

Ooredoo Maldives Managing Director and CEO Shadi Qawasmi said the award was an important step forward in the company's journey to build a digital Maldives.

"This recognition is a symbol of our team's hard work and the trust our customers place in us. As we face the upcoming holy month of Ramadan, we aim to deliver meaningful digital experiences that will connect families and communities," he said.

Ooredoo is making major investments to develop the Maldives' internet infrastructure. Ooredoo's Supernet fibre broadband services are now available to a large part of the population.

Ooredoo has also connected the PEACE Cable to speed up the Maldives' data traffic internationally and reduce latency. In addition to mobile broadband, 5G services are also being expanded as fixed wireless access.

What is the Ookla Speedtest Award?

Ookla Speedtest Awards are prestigious, data-driven accolades recognising top-performing mobile and fixed broadband operators globally, based on consumer-initiated tests and background scans from Speedtest applications.

They analyse network speed, latency, coverage, and video experience over six-month periods to identify the fastest and most reliable providers.
