Police Commissioner Ismail Naveen decided to retire on the instructions of President Mohamed Muizzu, Adhadhu has learnt.

Multiple sources with information on the matter confirmed this to Adhadhu. But the exact reason for the order is unclear.

In a message to the police executive, Naveen said he had been thinking of retiring for some time. His request was sent to the President's Office yesterday (February 15).

"Today I have decided to apply for retirement. After having this thought in my head for days, I have decided to do this today after considering about many things," Naveen wrote.

In the message, Naveen wrote that this is the most opportune time to end his term of service.

"I believe that this is the most appropriate time to complete my term of office and transfer responsibilities smoothly," he stated.

Naveen concluded his message by saying that it was a great honor for him to have the opportunity to serve the country and the police institution in that position.
