A Chinese company has been given another large plot of land to run a housing project in Hulhumale' Phase 2.
Adhadhu understands that several local companies also submitted proposals for the project, on a 45,000 square feet land in front of Phase 2 of Channel Park.
Board members of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), who wished to remain anonymous, said the land was "sold" to China's Wanlin Holding Pvt Ltd.
"This is what this government does every election. Handing over projects to Chinese companies and selling land. This is major corruption," one source said.
Last December, 1.3 million square feet of land in front of Channel Park was given to a Chinese company. HDC gave only six days to submit expressions of interest.
A businessman who spoke on the matter alleged corruption within HDC.
“A foreign investor told me that they had to pay for everything,” he said.
Rushing the allocation of land in the most valuable areas of Hulhumale' will cause huge financial losses to the state and HDC.
