The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has issued an advisory over the effects of haze in various parts of the country.
The HPA urged the public to take precautions and check the air quality through the IQ Air Visual.
The Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) predicts hazy conditions across the country in the coming days.
The worst air quality in the past seven days was recorded yesterday (January 7) and the visibility in central regions was less than 1.5 km.
Haze is caused by transboundary air pollution carried by the seasonal northeasterly winds, reducing visibility and impacting air quality.
It intensifies in December and January due to factors like factory pollution in neighboring countries such as India.
