Thinadhoo city has reported damage following heavy rainfall that lasted several hours last night.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said houses were flooded this morning and some damages were reported.

The floods also caused power outages in some houses. But NDMA said power has now been restored to the affected areas.

No houses have been evacuated due to the flooding, the NDMA said.

The city council is collecting details of the number of affected houses and has urged residents to contact 7531718 to report damage.

The recent rains across the country have also caused floods in several other islands.
