Police have arrested a foreigner while carrying alcohol bottles in a van.

The suspect is 31-year-old MD Jowel Hossain of Bangladesh. He was arrested on charges of possession and selling alcohol.

Police arrested him yesterday (June 6) near the harbor area of Hulhumale'. He was stopped by patrol officers on suspicion of criminal activity.

Police seized 134 alcohol bottles from the van. The court remanded him in custody for five days.

Authorities have recently started deporting foreign nationals arrested in such cases. MD Jowel Hossain is also expected to be deported.
