Supreme Court signs cooperation agreement with Saudi Justice Ministry

The Maldives Supreme Court and the Ministry of Justice of Saudi Arabia have signed a cooperation agreement.

Chief Justice Abdul Ghanee Mohamed signed the agreement on behalf of the Supreme Court at a ceremony held in Saudi Arabia. Dr. Walid Al Samani signed in behalf of the Saudi Ministry of Justice.

The agreement, signed on the sidelines of the International Judicial Conference in Saudi Arabia, is the first between the Maldivian judiciary and the judiciary of an Arab Islamic country.

Under the agreement, the two countries will cooperate in strengthening the legal and administrative procedures related to the judicial systems and the rules and systems for performing judicial functions.

It also provides for cooperation in developing and enhancing the technical competencies and skills of judges and judicial staff, as well as organizing and holding scientific and technical conferences, seminars, consultations, training programs and workshops.

In addition, they will exchange information on the field, experience international best practices, exchange visits between experts and share their skills and expertise.
