Two Maldivian pilgrims have passed away in Saudi Arabia, the Islamic ministry revealed today (January 7).

A senior official told the media that two Maldivian men had passed away while in Saudi Arabia. They were on Umrah pilgrimage with Safa Group and Hijaz Group.

The ministry did not given further details, including their identities or ages. The ministry said the funeral arrangements have been completed.

Thousands of Maldivians are currently in Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah during the school holidays and the New Year holidays. But the exact number is unclear.
