A case has been filed at the Civil Court over the suspension of Thinadhoo Mayor Saud Ali and Deputy Mayor Nasrullah Ali.

In the petition filed on Sunday, Saud and Nasrullah requested the Civil Court to quash the Local Government Authority (LGA)'s unlawful decision.

On June 25, Saud was suspended for three months, while Nasrullah was suspended for one month.

LGA Director Ali Abdullah Rasheed said the decision was taken after an inquiry into 19 cases received from government agencies and the public.

But Saud told Adhadhu that they were suspended due to political reasons ahead of the local council elections.
