President Muizzu with his Strategic Communications Minister Khaleel.
The President's Office has a team of 35 employees dedicated to providing information to news outlets and doing other media-related activities.
The list of employees released last month showed that the team included the minister for media and communications in the President's Office, as well as photographers and videographers.
Adhadhu identified employees who are directly in the Communications Unit or holding media-related positions. But it is unclear how many of the under-secretaries and directors do media-related work.
According to the President's Office, the state spends MVR 913,222 each month on the 35 members of the media team. That is MVR 11 million a year and MVR 55 million by the end of the five-year term.
Those who earn the lowest get a salary package of MVR 15,000, while the average salary package is MVR 26,000.
The President's Office currently has 349 employees. This means 10 percent of the total staff of the President's Office is the media team.
