President Mohamed Muizzu has returned to the Maldives after completing his third visit to the UK this year.

Muizzu left for the UK on November 29. This is his fifth visit to the country since taking office in November 2023.

According to the President's Office, the visit is being made at the invitation of His Majesty King Charles III to participate in the High-level Briefing on Private Capital Mobilisation organised by the Sustainable Markets Initiative (SMI).

"He highlighted the urgent financing needs of SIDS [Small Island Developing States] such as the Maldives and outlined pathways to enhance international cooperation in mobilising private investment for climate-resilient development," the President's Office said.

In April, Muizzu travelled to the UK to promote the Maldives as an official tourist destination for Liverpool Football Club.

In July, he visited the UK to launch a government brand to market the Maldives' fisheries products.
