The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has advised people to be cautious about the poor air quality in the Male' area during this period.
In a post on X, the HPA said people with lung diseases, heart disease or allergies, as well as children and the elderly, are advised not to spend too much time outdoors.
HPA also advised people not to take infants outside, keep doors and windows closed and to avoid outdoor sports and workouts.
The air quality monitoring system in Villimale' shows that the air quality in the area is currently at 102. This is considered unhealthy for sensitive groups, such as the elderly, children, and people with lung disease.
Every year, from December to March, the air quality across Maldives drops due to smog from India.
