A woman has expressed concern over the unreasonable conditions set by the government for obtaining IVF treatment under the Aasandha health insurance scheme.

Khadheeja Rifga, a teacher who attended President Mohamed Muizzu's meeting with the people of Henveiru district in Male' on Sunday night, said she was pleased with the decision to make IVF treatment available through Aasandha.

But she said the eligibility requirements to qualify for IVF treatment under Aasandha are unreasonable.

She noted the requirement for a specific weight and the disqualification for a wife if the husband has a child from a previous marriage.

"I was in a lot of pain and just didn't know what was going on and I was going to different doctors, thinking about going for IVF. During this process, I got diagnosed with endometriosis and adenomyosis. This condition is actually very painful. Its not easy to lose or maintain weight," Rifga said.

She said that women with endometriosis have to undergo an expensive operation before IVF, making it difficult for an ordinary employee to afford the operation before IVF.

She requested the President to arrange the operation under Aasandha.
