Last Thursday, the son of Zakiyya Moosa, 50, of New Life, Holhudhoo, who was been found dead in September, was arrested in connection with a fight in Holhudhoo.
According to the police, a court order was issued to arrest Zakiyya's eldest son, Moosa Rimzee, 30, of New Life, Holhudhoo. The court order stated that he had been detained for assaulting Ahmed Shujau of Andhaleebge, Holhudhoo, for posing a threat to public safety and security, and possibly attempting to conceal evidence.
Before his arrest, residents gathered outside the police station last Saturday to protest the delay in investigating the fight.
Sources told Adhadhu that Rimzee had assaulted Shujau, who had claimed that justice was being delayed in Zakiyya's death.
The injured man required treatment at the island health center on Thursday, according to the source.
Meanwhile, police are investigating Zakiyya's murder, but no arrests have been made in connection with the case.
