The seventh round of the joint military exercise Ekatha between the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) and the Indian Navy is underway.
In a post on X, the Indian High Commission in the Maldives said the exercise will further strengthen cooperation to address shared maritime challenges.
The post did not mention the location or the duration of the exercise.
The MNDF and the Defense Minister have not disclosed any information about the exercise. The MNDF usually publishes information on activities involving Maldivian soldiers and foreign soldiers visiting the Maldives.
Earlier in October, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu visited India and signed a vision document between the two countries. It includes strengthening military ties.
According to the document, India will provide defence platforms and assets to the Maldives to enhance the capabilities of the MNDF and the Government of Maldives to strengthen maritime and security affairs. The two countries will also conduct joint military operations.
