Maldives has participated in the 10th ministerial meeting of the US-led Global Coalition to Defeat Daesh/ISIS terrorist group.

All member countries attended the meeting held in Washington. This was the first ministerial meeting attended by Maldives since becoming a member of the coalition in August.

The coalition was formed in 2014 by the US in response to the attacks by the Islamic State (IS) group in Iraq. The United States claimed that the Iraqi government had requested the formation of a coalition against IS.

Member countries noted that the coalition's efforts have achieved remarkable successes in the fight against terrorism over the past 10 years.

They stressed the importance of working together in the future as the threat of terrorism is still a challenge facing the world.
